How BuySignal tracks prices

BuySignal lists deals from UK and Canadian retailers. Next to the retailer's own price and discount, we keep our own daily record of each product's price. Some deals carry a label based on that record. This page explains exactly what each label means, how we measure, and what we don't check.

What we record

"Lowest in 30 days", "Lowest in 60 days", "Lowest in 90 days"

We show this label when all of the following are true:

  1. Today's price is the same as or lower than every price we recorded for that product in the last 30, 60 or 90 calendar days.
  2. We recorded a price on at least 25 of the last 30 days (50 of 60, or 75 of 90).
  3. Today's price is at least 5% below the previous price. The previous price is the most recent earlier price that we recorded on at least 7 separate days.
  4. There is no gap of more than 3 days in our record around the price change.

"The same as or lower" means a price can share the lowest spot with an earlier day at the same price.

"Lowest in N days"

When we have between 15 and 24 recorded days in the last 30 calendar days, the label says "Lowest in N days". N is the number of days on which we recorded a price, not the number of calendar days. The other conditions above still apply. With fewer than 15 recorded days, there is no label.

When there is no label

"New" and "New price"

We don't show "New" or "New price" when:

The retailer's price and discount

The crossed-out price and "% off" shown on a deal are the retailer's own figures, shown as the retailer published them. We don't check the retailer's "was" price. Our labels are based only on our own record, so they can differ from the retailer's reference price.

How deals are ordered

By default, deals are sorted by the retailer's stated discount. Some days we also move a featured category or retailer higher up the list. No retailer pays for placement.

How BuySignal is paid for

BuySignal is paid for by its users through the Deals Hub and price alerts. We don't receive payment from retailers, and we don't use affiliate links at the moment. If that changes, we will say so on this page and in our Terms. Our labels will never depend on commission.

What we don't check

BuySignal is not a retailer. Prices can change after our last check, so always confirm the price on the retailer's website before you buy.
